What Is Breast MRI?
Breast MRI uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed images of breast tissue. At The Women’s Imaging Center in Mount Vernon, Washington, breast MRI may be recommended when additional information is needed beyond mammography or breast ultrasound.
Breast MRI is a highly sensitive imaging exam. It is not a replacement for mammography, but it can be an important additional tool when recommended by your provider. Because MRI provides detailed images of breast tissue, it may help evaluate findings that are difficult to fully understand with other imaging exams.
