Why Annual Mammograms Matter
Routine screening mammograms play an important role in breast health screening and early detection. The American College of Radiology and the Society of Breast Imaging recommend annual screening mammography beginning at age 40 for women at average risk.
Patients with a personal history of breast findings, strong family history, known genetic risk, dense breast tissue, or other risk factors should talk with their provider about whether earlier or additional screening may be recommended.
